CAF Champions League: Mamelodi Sundowns and Orlando Pirates face decisive second legs

The CAF Champions League second preliminary-round return legs take place on Friday, 23 October 2026, with the first places in the competition’s group stage at stake.

After a dramatic set of first-leg matches, several of Africa’s leading clubs must now complete the job or overturn a deficit to keep their continental campaigns alive.

Mouloudia Club d’Alger face the biggest challenge of the evening. The Algerian side must recover from a two-goal defeat by Enugu Rangers when the teams meet again in Algiers.

The home advantage will also be important for Mamelodi Sundowns and Orlando Pirates, who both secured positive results away from home. Sundowns drew 0-0 with Wiliete SC, while Orlando Pirates beat African Stars 1-0.

Both South African clubs will be seeking to use the support of their home crowds to finish the tie successfully and confirm their progress to the group stage.
