Bournemouth stun Milan 3-0 as Ruben Amorim suffers another heavy defeat

Bournemouth maintained their perfect start to the Europa League league phase with a 3-0 victory over Milan, whose goalkeeper Mike Maignan was sent off in the first half.

Justin Kluivert opened the scoring for the English side in the seventh minute before Marcus Tavernier doubled their lead after 32 minutes.

Maignan was dismissed in the 27th minute after striking Bournemouth midfielder Tyler Adams off the ball during a corner for the home team.

Amine Adli completed the scoring in the 84th minute to secure Bournemouth’s third win from three matches.

As Bournemouth moved 3-0 ahead, their supporters directed a chant at Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim, singing: “Ruben Amorim, it has happened again.”

Manchester United, under Amorim, lost by the same scoreline against Bournemouth in December 2024.

The result leaves Milan 24th in the table with three points, while Bournemouth have nine points and remain among the teams with a 100% record.

Five teams level on nine points

Bournemouth are joined at the top of the standings by Benfica, Bayer Leverkusen, Ferencvarosi and Olympiacos, with each club having won all three of their matches.

Benfica recorded a convincing 4-1 away victory against Omonia Nicosia, while Ferencvarosi won by the same scoreline at home to Torreense.

Olympiacos beat Sparta Prague 1-0, and Bayer Leverkusen earned a 2-0 away win against Omilos Filathlon Irakleiou (OFI Crete).

Crystal Palace held by Besiktas

Crystal Palace drew 2-2 with Besiktas in another match.

Besiktas took the lead in the second minute of first-half stoppage time through Wilfred Ndidi, allowing the Turkish champions to go into the interval in front.

Crystal Palace turned the game around shortly after the restart. Yeremy Pino equalised in the 53rd minute and Jean-Philippe Mateta put the visitors ahead two minutes later.

Besiktas responded through Junior Olaitan, who levelled in the 73rd minute to ensure the points were shared.

Hoffenheim and Real Sociedad win

Hoffenheim secured a 3-0 victory over Lyon, while Real Sociedad produced the biggest win of the round by beating Norwegian side Lillestrøm 6-0.
