Mbappe becomes first Frenchman to reach 25-goal mark for 10 straight years

Kylian Mbappe became the first French player to score at least 25 goals for a club in one of Europe’s top five leagues in 10 consecutive calendar years after finding the net for Real Madrid against RB Leipzig.

Real Madrid hosted the German side at the Santiago Bernabeu on Wednesday, 21 October 2026, in the third round of the league phase of the Champions League.

Mbappe struck in the 83rd minute to score Real Madrid’s third goal of the match. He received the ball from Yan Diomande inside the penalty area before producing a precise finish into the net.

The goal was Mbappe’s 25th for Real Madrid in the 2026 calendar year, according to Stats Foot.

The French forward’s record-breaking run began in 2017, when he reached the mark during his time at Monaco. He moved to Paris Saint-Germain in the summer of that year and continued the sequence for each of the next six calendar years.

Mbappe has now completed the achievement for a third successive year since joining Real Madrid.

Stats Foot said Mbappe was the first French player in history to score 25 or more goals for a club from one of the top five European leagues in official competitions across 10 consecutive calendar years.

The latest milestone adds to a prolific period for the France international, who has continued to score regularly since moving from Monaco to Paris Saint-Germain and then to Real Madrid.
