Morocco have won the Futsal Africa Cup of Nations for a record fourth consecutive time after beating Angola 5-2 in Wednesday’s final in Rabat.
The hosts retained the title in front of their home supporters, extending a run that began with victories in 2016, 2020 and 2024.
Angola contained Morocco for much of the opening 15 minutes, but the hosts eventually broke the deadlock through Othmane El Idrissi in the 17th minute. The GOAL FC winger cut in from the right and fired a powerful shot through a narrow gap between the ball and the Angolan goalkeeper.
The goal lifted the atmosphere inside the Sports Palace at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Sports Complex. Morocco national football team manager Mohamed Ouahbi was among those watching from the stands.
Angola responded almost immediately, equalising a minute later in what was the first goal Morocco had conceded in the tournament.
Morocco restored their lead in the 19th minute through Youssef Jaouad. The Union Touarga playmaker created space against his marker before finding the far corner with a long-range diagonal effort.
Hicham Dguig’s side went into half-time 2-1 ahead and increased their advantage shortly after the restart. Idriss Raiss El-Fenni struck from distance in the 21st minute to put Morocco two goals clear.
Ismail Amazal added a fourth in the 33rd minute before Bilal Bakkali scored two minutes later to put the result beyond Angola’s reach.
Angola scored again in the 37th minute, but the late reduction did not threaten Morocco’s victory as the hosts secured another continental title.
The triumph also established Morocco as the first national team to win the Futsal Africa Cup of Nations four times in succession. They moved ahead of Egypt, who won the competition’s first three editions in 1996, 2000 and 2004.
Morocco’s latest success completes a period of dominance in the tournament, with the team maintaining their position at the top of the African futsal game across four consecutive editions.
