Manqoba Mngqithi takes Young Africans into CAF Champions League group stages

Former Mamelodi Sundowns and Golden Arrows head coach Manqoba Mngqithi has guided Young Africans into the CAF Champions League group stages after a convincing second-leg victory over CFFA.

Young Africans beat the Madagascan side 4-1 on Wednesday to complete an 8-1 aggregate success in their second preliminary-round tie.

The result marks another milestone for Mngqithi, who began his time at Yanga with victory in the Community Shield.

Ibrahim Kazimoto opened the scoring after 27 minutes before Selemani Mwalimu struck twice early in the second half. His goals in the 49th and 53rd minutes put the Tanzanian side firmly in control.

CFFA reduced the deficit after 75 minutes, but teenager Juma Issa Abushuri restored Young Africans’ three-goal advantage in the 82nd minute.

Young Africans are the first team to reach the CAF Champions League group stages, having already completed their second-leg fixture on Wednesday.
