Milan suffer Goncalo Ramos injury blow before Bournemouth Europa League tie

Goncalo Ramos will miss Milan’s Europa League meeting with Bournemouth on Thursday after suffering a calf injury in training.

The Portugal striker began the session normally with his team-mates but later suffered a muscle strain in his calf. He appeared visibly unhappy after picking up the injury, according to Sky Sport Italia.

Ramos is scheduled to undergo medical tests on Thursday to establish the severity of the problem and assess how long he could be unavailable.

The injury adds to Milan’s growing list of concerns before their next European fixture. Winger Samuel Chukwueze has also been ruled out of the Bournemouth match because of a thigh injury, with fears that he could be sidelined for several months.

Francesco Camarda is expected to start as Milan’s central striker. It would be the Italian forward’s second consecutive start in the Europa League.

Ramos has scored 3 goals in 9 appearances for Milan in all competitions this season.

Milan began their Europa League campaign with a defeat by Benfica before recovering to beat Salzburg.

Bournemouth, meanwhile, have won both of their opening two matches in the competition, defeating Real Sociedad and Sturm Graz respectively.
