Harry Kane’s penalty sends Bayern Munich in front against Arsenal

Harry Kane scored Bayern Munich’s second goal from the penalty spot after Jurrien Timber handled his shot during their Champions League meeting at the Allianz Arena.

The England striker was given the chance to put the hosts ahead in the 60th minute when his effort appeared to be heading towards the net before striking Arsenal defender Timber’s hand.

Kane converted one minute later, sending his penalty into the top corner to David Raya’s right and giving Bayern Munich a 2-1 lead.

The goal came after Kane had also created Bayern’s equaliser. Arsenal had taken the lead in the 25th minute when Eberechi Eze ran through on goal and finished past Manuel Neuer.

Eze had been found by a long pass from Martin Odegaard on the left, allowing him to break clear of the Bayern defence before calmly scoring.

Bayern responded 10 minutes later. Kane delivered a precise pass to Alphonso Davies, who was playing in a more advanced role as a winger, and the Canada international finished with his right foot to make it 1-1 in the 35th minute.

Bayern Munich began the match with four points from their opening two Champions League fixtures. They had beaten Norwegian side Bodo/Glimt and drawn with compatriots Viking.

Arsenal had won both of their first two matches in the competition, defeating Napoli and Lille.
