Da Cruz calls for unity as Kaizer Chiefs seek to overturn Red Arrows defeat
Kaizer Chiefs coach Fernando Da Cruz has urged the club’s players, staff and supporters to remain united as they look to recover from their 1-0 defeat by Red Arrows in the CAF Confederation Cup.
Amakhosi were beaten in the first leg of the second preliminary round at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium, leaving them needing to overturn the deficit in the return match on Friday next week.
Da Cruz said the support of the Chiefs faithful would be important as the Soweto club attempt to progress to the next round.
“We need them on Friday for the game to support us because I know that the team is able to reverse the result,” said Da Cruz.
“What is most important is that in difficult moments we must stay united, players, staff, club and supporters to get through this period and get better results.”
The French coach also acknowledged that Chiefs must improve their attacking performance after creating few opportunities during the first leg in Zambia.
“For sure, we need to change something to create more chances. Normally, we create more chances in PSL,” he added.
“It’s the first time that we didn’t create a lot of chances, so we need to analyse and after we need to change something to be able to qualify.”
