Egyptian winger Ibrahim Adel features for FC Nordsjaelland in dramatic 3-3 draw against Lyngby
Egyptian winger Ibrahim Adel was part of a remarkable FC Nordsjaelland comeback as his side recovered from three goals down to draw 3-3 away to Lyngby in the Danish league.
Nordsjaelland looked set for defeat in Sunday’s 11th-round encounter at Lyngby Stadium after falling three goals behind, but three goals in six minutes transformed the contest and earned the visitors a valuable point.
Adel, who began the match on the bench, was introduced in the 62nd minute with his team trailing 3-0.
The Egyptian international witnessed his side respond in spectacular fashion, scoring three consecutive goals between the 71st and 77th minutes to level the match.
Nordsjaelland nearly complete stunning comeback
Having fought their way back into the contest, Nordsjaelland came close to securing all three points in stoppage time.
The visitors were awarded a penalty in the 100th minute, giving them a late opportunity to complete an extraordinary turnaround.
However, Niklas Rokiar missed the spot-kick, denying Nordsjaelland the chance to snatch victory after their impressive recovery.
The result meant the Danish side had to settle for a draw despite their late surge.
Egyptian winger’s side remain fourth
The draw took Nordsjaelland to 19 points, leaving them fourth in the Danish league standings.
Lyngby, meanwhile, remained at the bottom of the table with eight points after letting a three-goal advantage slip.
The comeback showed Ibrahim Adel and his FC Nordsjaelland teammates’ ability to fight back from a difficult position, though the missed penalty meant they couldn’t complete what would have been an even more dramatic victory.
