Barcelona confirm Eric Garcia and Jules Kounde injuries before Paris Saint-Germain clash

Barcelona will be without Eric Garcia for Tuesday’s Champions League meeting with Paris Saint-Germain after the defender suffered a thigh muscle injury in his right leg.

The club said Garcia is expected to be sidelined for three to four weeks, ruling him out of both the third-round league-phase match in Paris and Sunday’s La Liga El Clasico against Real Madrid.

Barcelona announced the injuries in an official statement, confirming that Jules Kounde will also miss the game against Paris Saint-Germain. The France international has suffered a sprain to his left ankle.

Kounde’s availability for the match against Real Madrid will be assessed over the coming days, with Barcelona saying a decision will depend on how his condition develops.

Gerard Martin is expected to be fit to travel with the Barcelona squad to Paris. He sustained an injury during Saturday’s La Liga match against Real Betis, but Barcelona won the game 5-2.

Paris Saint-Germain have also confirmed that left-back Nuno Mendes will miss the fixture because of injury.

Barcelona travel to face Paris Saint-Germain on Tuesday in the third round of the Champions League league phase. They lead La Liga with 27 points after nine consecutive victories.
