Como return to winning ways with 3-1 victory over Fiorentina

Como ended a run of three matches without a win by beating Fiorentina 3-1 in the seventh round of the Italian league.

Como had entered the match without a victory in their previous three games, losing twice and drawing once. They were beaten 2-0 by Frosinone, held to a goalless draw by Roma and then lost 3-2 to Dutch side Feyenoord in the Champions League.

Como took the lead in the 32nd minute when Matia Liberali found the net with a shot from the edge of the penalty area.

Nico Paz doubled the advantage four minutes later, heading home to put Como in control.

Fiorentina reduced the deficit in the 42nd minute. Marin Pongracic scored with a left-footed effort from inside the penalty area, leaving the visitors within one goal at half-time.

Como restored their two-goal cushion in the 56th minute through Anastasios Douvikas, who finished with a low shot from inside the 18-yard area.

The result lifted Como to 14 points and fourth place in the Italian league table.

Fiorentina remain on four points and are 19th, one place above the bottom of the standings.
