Bilal Attia made his first appearance for Racing Santander on Sunday after recovering from a knee injury, featuring in the club’s youth side’s 3-0 victory over Bansander.

The Al Ahly playmaker, who is on loan at the Spanish club, began the match on the bench before being introduced for the final 20 minutes.

Attia’s debut had been delayed by the injury, which he was carrying when Racing Santander announced his signing in early June. The Egypt youth international had remained sidelined since then, with Sunday’s match marking his return to competitive action.

The 3-0 win came in the Spanish youth league and represented Attia’s first outing in Racing Santander colours since joining the club last summer. He moved from Al Ahly on loan until the end of the season.

Racing Santander’s reserve team is known as Rayo Cantabria and competes in Spain’s fourth tier, while Attia has so far been involved with the club’s youth side as he builds up his fitness following his absence.

Attia is the second Egyptian player to feature in Spain this season. He follows Hamza Abdelkarim, who is playing for Barcelona.

Racing Santander also have Egypt youth international Mohamed Haitham in their squad.
