Soheila Wafik helped Gazele begin their Macedonian league campaign with a convincing victory over defending champions Rabotnichki.
Gazele won 3-0 against last season’s league winners, taking the match 25-16, 25-23 and 25-17.
Wafik started the match and played a part in Gazele’s impressive opening result as the club secured all three sets without reply.
The victory marks the latest stage of the Egyptian player’s professional volleyball career after her move to the Macedonian league.
Wafik spent last season with Hungarian side Fatum Nyiregyhaza, having joined the club before continuing her career abroad with Gazele.
During her time in Hungary, she helped Fatum Nyiregyhaza finish runners-up in the Hungarian Cup.
She also represented the club in the European Challenge Cup, where the team reached the last 16.
Gazele finished fifth in the Macedonian league last season, while Rabotnichki went on to claim the title. Their opening meeting this term therefore ended with Gazele making a strong statement against the reigning champions.
