Younes Ibrahim marks Brighton debut with assist in UEFA Conference League

Younes Ibrahim made his first-team debut for Brighton and marked the occasion by providing an assist in the UEFA Conference League.

The 18-year-old Egyptian came on as a substitute in the 67th minute, replacing Ghanaian forward Ibrahim Osman after he suffered an injury. Ibrahim then created a goal in the same minute that he entered the match.

It was the first senior appearance for Brighton by the young playmaker, who expressed his appreciation for the opportunity in a post on Instagram.

“I am extremely grateful to have played my first match for this special club, and to have provided an assist as well,” Ibrahim wrote.

Ibrahim had previously been named on Brighton’s first-team bench once this season, for the Premier League fixture against Coventry City in the fourth round. He did not play in that match.

The Egyptian Football Association has also been working to secure his involvement with the Egypt national team. A source from the organisation previously said: “We are intensifying our efforts to include Younes Ibrahim, the Brighton player, in the next camp.”

The source added: “We have contacted him more than once and he wants to be with the Egypt national team.”
