TP Mazembe host Club Africain on Saturday in the first leg of the second qualifying round of the CAF Champions League, with both sides seeking a route back to the group stage.
The match will be played at Stade TP Mazembe in Lubumbashi, with kick-off at 15:00 local time and 15:00 Paris time. It will begin at 14:00 in Kinshasa and Tunis.
No broadcaster has been announced in France. In the Democratic Republic of the Congo, the game is expected to be shown by Canal+. Viewers in Tunisia will be able to watch on beIN Sports Mena 1 or the Diwan Sport platform.
TP Mazembe missed out on qualification for last season’s group stage after failing to secure one of the qualifying places in the 2024-2025 Congolese championship. After a year away from the competition’s main phase, the Lubumbashi club will be looking to regain its place among Africa’s leading sides.
Club Africain have been waiting even longer for a return to the final phase. Their last appearance in the CAF Champions League group stage came during the 2018-2019 season.
Mazembe advanced from the opening qualifying round after beating Ghanaian side Medeama in both legs. They won 1-0 away from home, with Lise Ntumba scoring a late goal, before completing the job with a 3-1 victory at home.
Patrick Mwaungulu scored twice in that second match, while Kazema Baso also found the net.
Club Africain eliminated Mali’s Djoliba in the previous round. They took a narrow 1-0 lead in Tunisia before securing their progress with a 2-2 draw in Bamako.
Sadok Kadida, who scored the only goal in the first leg, was again on target in the return match. Taddeus Nkeng also scored for the Tunisian club.
The teams last met in the group stage during the 2019-2020 season. TP Mazembe produced a commanding 8-0 victory in Lubumbashi, while the return fixture in Rades ended goalless.
Saturday’s meeting will therefore renew a rivalry that has previously produced a decisive home win for the Congolese side, although Club Africain’s result in the second match of that campaign prevented Mazembe from completing a double over their opponents.
