Trezeguet returns to rescue Al Riyadh with stoppage-time equaliser against Al Fayha

Mahmoud Hassan “Trezeguet” marked his return from injury by scoring a late equaliser as Al Riyadh earned a 1-1 draw with Al Fayha in the eighth round of the Saudi Pro League.

The Egypt international headed in a cross from Al Jizani in the second minute of added time to secure a point for his side.

Trezeguet had been sidelined since suffering an injury in September and missed the current international break. He began the match on the bench before coming on at the start of the second half, replacing a team-mate in the 46th minute.

Al Fayha took the lead in the 16th minute when Lazaro found the net in the first half. The hosts held on until stoppage time, when Trezeguet met Al Jizani’s delivery with a powerful header to restore parity.

The goal took Trezeguet’s contribution for Al Riyadh this season to two goals and two assists in seven appearances.

The draw moved Al Riyadh to nine points and 11th place in the table. Al Fayha remained 12th with seven points.

Al Riyadh’s next fixture is against Al Hilal in the following round on Friday.
