Al Ahly seal perfect group-stage record with 50-14 win over Rwanda Army

Al Ahly completed the group stage of the African Clubs Championship with a commanding 50-14 victory over Rwanda Army.

The Egyptian side led 24-8 at half-time before extending their advantage after the break to finish with the biggest win of their campaign so far.

The tournament finals are being hosted by Angola from 4 to 14 October.

Al Ahly topped Group A with a perfect record, collecting 10 points from matches against Flowers Benin, Renaissance Ivory Coast, Inter Club Angola, Petro Atletico Angola and Rwanda Army.

The top two teams in each group progress directly to the semi-finals, where they will compete for the title.

Al Ahly will face Shabab Kinshasa, who finished second in Group B, in the last four. Both semi-finals will be played on Monday, 13 October, with the final scheduled for the following day.

Al Ahly are the defending champions and have won the competition in each of the past three editions. They have claimed the title eight times in total.

Zamalek remain the competition’s most successful club, with 12 titles. Their most recent triumph came in 2019.
