Zamalek leave Mohamed Sobhi and Ahmed Hossam out of squad for Al Ahly clash

Zamalek have excluded goalkeeper Mohamed Sobhi and defender Ahmed Hossam from their squad for Sunday’s Egyptian Premier League meeting with Al Ahly, with the decision coming just hours before the Cairo derby.

The teams face each other in matchday six at Cairo Stadium. Zamalek head coach Moataz Gamal has retained 22 players for the match, with the starting line-up and substitutes due to be announced at the stadium.

Goalkeepers: El Mahdy Soliman, Mohamed Sobhi and Mohamed Awad.

Defenders: Mohamed Ismail, Mahmoud Hamdy “El Wensh”, Mostafa El Zenary, Ahmed Hossam, Omar Gaber, Mahmoud Bentayg, Ahmed Fattouh and Mohamed Farag.

Midfielders: Mohamed Shehata, Ahmed Rabie, Mahmoud Gad, Adam Kaied, Abdullah El Said, Chico Banza, Ahmed Abdel Rahim “Esho”, Ahmed El Gafaly and Mohamed Hamdy.

Forwards: Nasser Mansi, Hossam Ashraf, Oday Al Dabbagh and Ahmed Sherif.

With Mohamed Sobhi and Ahmed Hossam now removed, the remaining 22 players will travel to the ground ahead of the match.

Zamalek absentees

Zamalek will also be without seven other players for the game.

Seif Farouk Gaafar, Youssef Wael “Frenchy”, El Sayed Osama and Ahmed Khodary have been left out for technical reasons.

Mohamed El Sayed, Mohamed Ibrahim and Amr Nasser are unavailable because they are not fully fit.

Al Ahly are third in the Egyptian Premier League table with 13 points, level with second-placed Zamalek. Zamalek are ahead on goal difference, while Pyramids lead the standings with 15 points.

Ayman Al Kashif will commentate on the first audio channel of ON Sport, with Mohamed El Shazly assigned to the second.
