Bayer Leverkusen have reportedly opened negotiations with Ibrahim Maza and his representatives over a contract extension as they seek to secure the Algerian international’s long-term future at the club.

The Bundesliga side are keen to reward the attacking midfielder with improved financial terms following his impressive development since arriving at the BayArena.

Although Maza remains under contract with Leverkusen until June 2030, the German club are understood to view the 20-year-old as an important part of their long-term sporting project and are determined to secure his future amid growing interest from several Premier League clubs.

Maza joined Bayer Leverkusen in July 2025 and has gradually established himself as a promising talent capable of making a significant impact in the final third. His performances have been encouraging, with the youngster recording four goals and eight assists since his arrival.

His creativity, technical ability and attacking versatility have strengthened his reputation as one of the exciting young midfield prospects in German football, attracting attention from clubs seeking to reinforce their attacking options with emerging talent.

Leverkusen’s decision to initiate discussions over improved terms reflects their desire to recognise Maza’s progress while ensuring they remain in a strong position to retain his services for the foreseeable future.

The club are also mindful of the increasing interest in the Algerian midfielder, particularly from England, where Aston Villa, Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal have reportedly been monitoring his situation.

The Premier League trio are understood to be attracted by Maza’s potential, with his performances in Germany placing him on the radar of clubs looking to invest in young players capable of developing into key figures.

However, Leverkusen’s willingness to negotiate a pay rise signals their determination to keep the midfielder away from potential suitors and continue his development in the Bundesliga.

With his existing contract running until 2030, the German side are not under immediate pressure to agree to a new deal. Nevertheless, an improved contract would underline the club’s confidence in Maza and reinforce his importance to their plans for the coming seasons.

For now, Leverkusen will hope to make progress in negotiations with the player and his representatives as they look to secure the future of a highly rated youngster whose performances are attracting increasing attention across Europe.
