Mohamed Salah sets historic Turkish Super Lig record with Trabzonspor

Mohamed Salah became the first player in the modern history of the Turkish Super Lig to score seven goals and provide three assists in his opening seven matches of a season.

The Trabzonspor forward made another decisive contribution on Saturday as his side won 3-0 away at Samsunspor in the seventh round of the competition, despite playing with 10 players.

Salah created Trabzonspor’s third goal in the 40th minute, supplying Frankolino to complete the scoring. He was substituted in the 77th minute, with Nigeria international Paul Onuachu taking his place.

According to 61saat, the Egypt international’s return of seven goals and three assists in seven appearances is unprecedented in the modern era of the Turkish Super Lig.

Salah is currently the league’s leading scorer with seven goals, level with Gift Orban of Amed Sportif. They are followed by Victor Osimhen of Galatasaray, Fenerbahce’s Vedat Muriqi and Istanbul Basaksehir’s Eldor Shomurodov, who have each scored six times.

Dusan Vlahovic of Besiktas has five goals.

Salah also leads the assists standings, with three. He shares top spot in that category with Victor Osimhen, Olsen, Irfan Can Kahveci and Florent Hadergjonaj.

The result lifted Trabzonspor into third place in the Turkish Super Lig, although their position is provisional. They have 13 points from seven matches, three behind leaders Galatasaray.

Trabzonspor’s record so far is four wins, two draws and one defeat.

The club’s victory at Samsunspor continued Salah’s influence since the start of the campaign, with the “Egyptian King” having contributed directly to 10 goals in his seven league appearances.
