Barcelona will be without Raphinha for their next two fixtures after the Brazil forward failed to recover in time from an injury sustained on international duty.
The 29-year-old suffered the problem during Brazil’s friendly against Australia and returned to Catalonia early for further assessment. Although medical tests found no serious injury, he remained a doubt for Barcelona’s meeting with Getafe as he worked to restore his fitness.
Raphinha underwent a fitness test on Friday in the hope of being cleared to play, according to Diario AS. However, his condition during the assessment was not encouraging and he later missed Barcelona’s training session.
The result is a setback for manager Hansi Flick, whose side are preparing for the next stage of the 2026-27 campaign after returning to work following the season’s first international break.
Barcelona face Getafe before hosting or travelling to meet Galatasaray, but Raphinha will not be involved in either match. The additional week will instead allow him to concentrate on his recovery.
The club are eager to have the Brazilian available for more demanding fixtures against Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid. His absence is likely to be particularly significant because of the form he has shown since moving into the centre-forward position.
Raphinha has scored 14 goals in eight games and has also become an influential presence within the Barcelona dressing room. Flick will therefore be missing not only one of his most productive attacking players, but also an important leader.
Barcelona’s immediate challenge will be to manage his absence against Getafe and Galatasaray while waiting for him to regain full fitness. The forward’s failure to recover in time leaves the club without a player who has made a decisive contribution in front of goal and inside the squad this season.
