Al Ahly-Zamalek clash will be an enjoyable spectacle – Pyramids coach Mohamed Gedo
Pyramids FC coach Mohamed Nagy Gedo expects Sunday’s Cairo derby between Al Ahly and Zamalek to deliver an entertaining contest, insisting both Egyptian giants have the quality to produce an exciting encounter.
Al Ahly and Zamalek are scheduled to meet at Cairo International Stadium at 8:00 pm on Sunday in the sixth round of the Egyptian Premier League, with the result potentially influencing the early title race.
Pyramids currently lead the standings with 15 points, while Zamalek occupy second place with 13 points, ahead of third-placed Al Ahly on goal difference.
With his side leading the championship, Gedo believes Sunday’s showdown will be a difficult test for both teams but has declined to predict the outcome, stressing that the performance on the day will determine the winner.
Speaking to MBC Egypt 2, the former Al Ahly striker admitted that it was difficult to determine how the highly anticipated encounter would unfold.
“I don’t know how the Al-Ahly and Zamalek match will go. I think the confrontation will be difficult for both teams,” Gedo said.
The Pyramids coach expressed his hope that the two rivals would serve up an entertaining spectacle for supporters, adding that the team that performs better would deserve to take the victory.
“I just hope it’s a good match, and that we enjoy it, but the result will be in favour of the team that performs best,” he added.
Gedo also acknowledged the strong form of both sides in the league, expressing confidence that their meeting would provide an enjoyable contest for football fans.
“Both teams are good and are doing well in the league, and God willing, it will be an enjoyable match for everyone,” he stated.
The Cairo derby is expected to attract significant attention, with both clubs eager to strengthen their title credentials and keep pace with league leaders Pyramids.
For Gedo and his team, the outcome will be closely watched as they seek to maintain their advantage at the top of the table. However, the Pyramids coach has made it clear that his expectation is for an entertaining encounter between two of Egypt’s biggest clubs, with the better-performing side ultimately emerging victorious.
