Ismaily midfielder Mohamed Samir Konta confirms offers from Sweden and Egyptian clubs
Ismaily SC midfielder Mohamed Samir Konta has confirmed receiving offers from clubs in Sweden and Egypt but insists his immediate focus remains on his current club and the Egyptian youth national team.
The midfielder disclosed that a Swedish club has expressed interest in securing his services, alongside approaches from several Egyptian sides, although he declined to reveal the identities of the interested clubs.
Konta’s revelation comes after he helped Egypt win the North African U-20 Championship in Suez during the recent international break, a triumph that secured the Pharaohs’ qualification for the Africa Cup of Nations U-20 finals in Ghana.
Despite the growing interest in his services, the Ismaily youngster has played down speculation surrounding his future, explaining that his representative is responsible for handling transfer discussions.
“I have received offers from inside and outside Egypt, but I do not discuss these matters, as my entire focus is on the field and the national team only,” Konta told Modern MTI.
He added that his agent keeps him informed about developments without involving him extensively in negotiations.
“My agent is the one who manages this file, and he only brings up these topics with me within narrow limits. He is content with saying that there is interest from a foreign club or a local club,” he explained.
Konta further confirmed that the Swedish side had submitted an offer, while several Egyptian clubs had also made approaches. Other interested parties, he noted, had only requested that he attend trial periods.
The midfielder’s performances for Egypt’s youth national team have helped raise his profile, with the North African Championship victory providing an important platform ahead of the continental tournament in Ghana.
Konta praised head coach Wael Riad and his technical team for their preparation and determination to win the competition, stressing that the squad had entered the tournament with the title firmly in its sights.
“From day one of this tournament, our focus was entirely on winning the title. Our goal was not just to qualify or participate, and thank God we were able to achieve that,” he said.
Meanwhile, Konta expressed hope that Ismaily would overcome its ongoing administrative and registration challenges when the registration window reopens, allowing the club to return to a more stable position.
For now, the midfielder remains committed to Ismaily, with his immediate attention on delivering on the pitch and continuing to contribute to Egypt’s youth national team as they prepare for the U-20 Africa Cup of Nations in Ghana.
