Barcelona ask UEFA to reschedule Women’s Champions League match against Arsenal

Barcelona have asked UEFA to consider moving their Women’s Champions League match against Arsenal because it is scheduled to take place on the same day as a general strike.

The match is due to be played at Spotify Camp Nou at 18:45 on 11 November, when the strike is planned to take place over a housing crisis. According to Sport, citing Catalunya Radio, Barcelona believe the industrial action could prevent the fixture from being staged under normal conditions.

The Catalan club has already contacted UEFA to discuss changing the date of the game, which is part of the fourth round of the Women’s Champions League league phase.

Barcelona’s preferred solution is to bring the match forward to Tuesday, 10 November. Any alteration would also require Arsenal to rearrange their corresponding Premier League fixture and move it to the Saturday.

The meeting is expected to carry additional significance because it will be the first time the sides have faced one another since the 2024-2025 Women’s Champions League final.

Arsenal won that final 1-0, with Stina Blackstenius scoring the only goal. The result denied Barcelona the chance to complete a treble.

Barcelona’s most recent victory over Arsenal came in 2021, when they recorded a 4-0 win.
