Ghana’s Black Queens have taken a commanding step towards the next round of the 2028 Olympic Games qualifiers after cruising past Mauritius in the first leg of their second-round tie.

The Black Queens produced an impressive attacking display to secure a comfortable victory, scoring three goals before half-time and putting themselves in a strong position ahead of the return leg.

Abigail Kim opened the scoring in the 16th minute to give Ghana an early advantage.

The Black Queens continued to press forward and were rewarded again in the 24th minute when Alice Kusi doubled their lead.

Ghana maintained their dominance and added a third goal just before the break, with Benedicte Simon finding the net with a long-range effort in the 45+3rd minute.

The result gives Ghana a significant advantage heading into the second leg, with the team now well placed to progress to the next stage of the African qualifying campaign.

The tie is part of the second round of the African qualifiers for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games.

Ghana will host Mauritius in the return leg on Tuesday, 13 October 2026, when the Black Queens will aim to complete the job and secure their progression.

With three goals already scored in the opening leg, Ghana will be confident of maintaining their momentum as they continue their pursuit of Olympic qualification.
