Jules Kounde plans to stay at Barcelona despite interest from five Premier League clubs

Jules Kounde has no intention of leaving Barcelona during the next winter transfer window, despite an uncertain position in Hansi Flick’s team and growing interest from several leading European clubs.

According to Catalan newspaper Sport, citing reports from the English press, the France defender remains committed to Barcelona and believes he can regain his place in Flick’s plans. A number of English clubs have made enquiries about his situation and are monitoring whether his position changes by January.

Kounde’s role has shifted significantly since previous seasons. He had been one of Flick’s most trusted players, but his influence and playing time have declined at the start of the current campaign.

Eric Garcia has emerged as a reliable alternative at right-back and has taken advantage of the opportunities given to him. His performances have contributed to Kounde moving into a more secondary role, with the France international no longer enjoying the status of an automatic starter he held only a few months ago.

Despite the change, Kounde is not planning to make a rushed decision about his future. His priority is to remain at Barcelona and win back the manager’s confidence.

Flick is also not understood to be planning to let Kounde leave. The Barcelona manager continues to regard him as an important member of the squad because of his experience and versatility, with the ability to operate both as a full-back and a centre-back.

Kounde’s situation has attracted particular attention in the Premier League. FootballTransfers reports that five English clubs are closely following developments around the defender.

Those clubs are Chelsea, Arsenal, Manchester United, Manchester City and Liverpool.

Kounde is under contract with Barcelona until June 2030, strengthening the club’s position in any potential negotiations. Although his name has been linked with several possible moves in the transfer market, there is currently no confirmed formal offer that would alter the situation.

For now, Kounde intends to continue competing for his place at Barcelona rather than pursue a move in January. The interest from England remains, but his present preference is to stay and re-establish himself under Flick.
