Al Ahly to begin 48-hour closed camp ahead of Zamalek derby

Al Ahly will enter a closed training camp 48 hours before Sunday’s Cairo derby against Zamalek, football director Wael Gomaa has confirmed.

The two sides will meet on 11 October at Cairo Stadium in the sixth round of the league.

“Al Ahly will enter a closed camp 48 hours before the derby,” Gomaa told FilGoal.com.

The announcement comes after Al Ahly began their Egypt Capital Cup campaign with a convincing 5-0 victory over Petrol Asyut in the opening round.

Zamalek’s youth side, meanwhile, suffered a 3-0 defeat by ZED.

Al Ahly and Zamalek are level on 13 points in the league, with Zamalek currently ahead on goal difference.

Pyramids lead the standings with 15 points.
