Argentina beat Burkina Faso 7-0 in an international friendly in Buenos Aires on Sunday, after the visitors arrived only a few hours before kick-off.
The Etalons had to cope with difficult circumstances and a heavily disrupted preparation before the match.
Argentina manager Lionel Scaloni praised Burkina Faso’s determination to fulfil the fixture after the game.
“I would like to thank Burkina Faso and those who came for the effort they made. They honour football,” Scaloni said.
“We are grateful for the effort they made to be able to come. They could have stayed at home and the match would have been suspended. What they did is truly admirable.”
Scaloni also said Argentina had achieved its objectives, while highlighting the contribution of the younger players.
“Overall, we fulfilled the objective. All the young players bring freshness; they want to be here.”
