Mokoena expects Mosimane to deliver maximum points for Bafana Bafana

Former Bafana Bafana and Jomo Cosmos midfielder Teboho Mokoena says Pitso Mosimane must guide South Africa to victories in both Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Guinea and Eritrea.

Mokoena believes there is no reason to doubt Mosimane’s ability to secure the required results, with Bafana Bafana aiming to collect six points from the two matches.

“I am satisfied with the squad selected by Pitso,” Mokoena told KickOff.

“We should support him, as he, like any other coach, deserves more time.”

Mosimane has named an intriguing squad for the qualifiers, including two goalkeepers from the same club. The selection also includes the return of Luther Singh, who had not been considered by former coach Hugo Broos during the past five years.

South Africa will host Guinea at Orlando Stadium in Soweto, Johannesburg, on Saturday before travelling to Egypt for their away qualifier against Eritrea a few days later.

Mokoena said the expectation around the team was clear and that Bafana Bafana could not afford to settle for anything less than two wins.

“Our expectation is to secure six points; nothing less,” he said. “Pitso must win both matches.

“I believe he will succeed in defeating both Guinea and Eritrea. We do not anticipate losses to these teams.

“We expect nothing short of six points. We trust that Pitso will obtain all six points for us,” he concluded.
