Gernot Rohr warns Benin of tough Burkina Faso test in CAN 2027 qualifiers

Benin head coach Gernot Rohr expects a difficult opening match against Burkina Faso in the CAN 2027 qualifiers on Friday, 25 September.

Rohr has highlighted the strength of the Burkina Faso squad, pointing to the experience of several players who compete in Europe, including in the Champions League and the continent’s leading domestic divisions.

“This will be a very difficult match when you look at the players who make up the Burkina Faso team,” Rohr said. “They play in the Champions League and in the top divisions across Europe. On paper, it is a complicated contest.

“But we will prepare well with our team and rely on our own qualities. When everyone is performing at their best, we can be competitive. We will have to produce the right performance to bring back a result.”

Rohr and his players will therefore need to draw on their own strengths as they attempt to negotiate their first CAN 2027 qualifying fixture against the Etalons.
