Ghana v Gambia: Mustapha Kechaf replaces Jalal Jayed as referee for 2027 AFCON qualifier

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has changed the referee appointed for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying match between Ghana and Gambia in Accra on 29 September.

Morocco’s Jalal Jayed had originally been selected to take charge of the fixture, but has been ruled unavailable. CAF has therefore made a late change, appointing fellow Moroccan referee Mustapha Kechaf to oversee the match.

Kechaf was called in as a replacement and will now lead the officiating team when Ghana host Gambia.

The change affects only the referee in charge. The remainder of the appointed officiating team remains unchanged, with preparations for the match continuing as planned in the Ghanaian capital.
