Moussa Diaby says he is only 70 percent fit at Bayer Leverkusen

Moussa Diaby says he is still short of full fitness following his return to Bayer Leverkusen, but the winger believes he is steadily improving with every appearance.

The 27-year-old rejoined Leverkusen from Al-Ittihad around four weeks ago and has featured three times since his arrival. Although pleased with his early contribution, Diaby feels there is considerably more to come as he rebuilds sharpness and strengthens his understanding with teammates.

“I’m not yet at 100 per cent. Against Augsburg, I was at 60 per cent; against Leipzig, already 70 per cent,” Diaby said.

The France international intends to use the upcoming international break to continue improving his condition ahead of Leverkusen’s demanding schedule. He is encouraged by his performances so far but remains determined to raise his level further.

“I played well, helped the team, but I know that I can play much, much better,” Diaby added.

Diaby does not believe he needs to readapt to Bundesliga football. Instead, he says his main focus is building chemistry after four weeks of training with the squad. His pace, direct running and experience offer Leverkusen a major attacking option as he works toward full match readiness.
