Egypt squad complete as Celtic’s Haitham Hassan joins national-team camp

Egypt’s squad is now complete after Celtic player Haitham Hassan joined the Pharaohs’ training camp in Cairo.

Hassan arrived in the capital a few hours ago, following the late arrival on Monday of Nice defender Mohamed Abdelmonem.

Egypt will therefore hold their first full-team training session on Tuesday, with all players available to manager.

The Pharaohs are due to face Angola and South Sudan on 25 and 29 September respectively in the opening two rounds of the African qualifiers for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations.

Egypt will also play a friendly against South Africa on 4 October.

Mohamed Salah led his team to victory over Galatasaray in their final match before the international break.

Salah scored a hat-trick and provided the assist for his team’s fourth goal in the game, which was played in the sixth round of the Turkish league.

The three goals took Salah’s total for the current season to seven, making him the Turkish league’s leading scorer.
