Uganda players to receive $10,000 AFCON qualification bonus

Uganda’s players who featured in the Cranes’ 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying campaign are set to receive a pro-rata qualification payment of $10,000 each.

Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) president Moses Magogo confirmed the payment as part of a wider package aimed at improving the welfare of the national team.

The federation has also upgraded the Cranes’ arrangements ahead of future international assignments.

The new measures include five-star accommodation for the team, while eligible overseas-based players will travel in business class.

FUFA also plans to use charter flights for selected back-to-back international fixtures to reduce the demands of travelling between matches.

The federation has further provided the national team with a new team bus and increased allowances and performance bonuses.

Magogo said the changes are intended to improve the players’ welfare and create better conditions for the Cranes as they prepare for future competitions.

The $10,000 payment will be calculated on a pro-rata basis for players who participated in Uganda’s AFCON 2025 qualifying campaign.

Uganda are continuing preparations for future international assignments as FUFA seeks to strengthen the support structure around the national team.

Uganda will begin their AFCON qualifiers with an away game against Tunisia on September 24 before hosting Libya on September 29.
