Eintracht Frankfurt plan contract extension for Ansgar Knauff

Eintracht Frankfurt are reportedly preparing to open talks with Ansgar Knauff over extending his contract beyond its current 2028 expiry.

According to Bild, the Bundesliga club want to discuss a new agreement with the 24-year-old winger during the current season. Frankfurt’s interest reflects Knauff’s growing importance within the squad, where he is valued not only for his versatility but also for his team-first attitude.

Knauff joined Frankfurt in January 2022 and has gradually become a popular figure among supporters. His willingness to work hard, play in different positions and put collective needs before personal recognition has strengthened his status as an important part of the club’s identity.

However, there is no immediate urgency to complete negotiations. Knauff has only recently returned from a thigh injury, meaning his priority is currently rebuilding his fitness and rediscovering his best rhythm.

The winger has already outlined his plans for the international break, including gaining minutes in a friendly against Eintracht Braunschweig.

“I want to find my rhythm. Above all, I want to collect minutes in the friendly [against Eintracht Braunschweig]. Then I want to return after the break fully fit and attack again,” Knauff said.

Frankfurt will monitor his progress before moving ahead with formal discussions.
