Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Adolf Mtasingwa says results have been ‘unlucky’

Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Adolf Mtasingwa believes his side’s recent results have not reflected the quality of their performances as they prepare to face Golden Arrows on Sunday.

Amakhosi began the season at the top of the Betway Premiership but have slipped to fourth after an inconsistent run. They have won three of their six matches, while draws against Mamelodi Sundowns, Richards Bay and Polokwane City have left them with 12 points.

Chiefs drew 1-1 with Mamelodi Sundowns, 2-2 with Richards Bay and 1-1 with Polokwane City. They will now travel to Mpumalanga to meet Golden Arrows at Mbombela Stadium, with Mtasingwa targeting a victory before the FIFA international break.

The midfielder joined Kaizer Chiefs at the beginning of the season from Tanzanian club Azam FC. He said the upcoming fixture was an important opportunity for the team to regain momentum.

“It is massively important to us as a team considering our recent results,” Mtasingwa told the Chiefs website.

“We always focus on the next game and are looking forward to it because we really want to boost our momentum with a win ahead of the FIFA international break that follows.”

Mtasingwa said the team’s approach remained clear despite the points dropped in recent weeks.

“Our game model is well structured. It’s just that we have been unlucky with results,” he added.

Kaizer Chiefs have had a full week to prepare for the match, and Mtasingwa said the mood within Fernando Da Cruz’s squad remained positive.

“We have a good spirit in the camp. We have had a full week to get ready, and we are feeling positive about the game this weekend.”

The midfielder also believes the support of the club’s travelling fans could benefit Chiefs at Mbombela Stadium.

“The venue can count in our favour because we always have a lot of our fans that turn out to support us, for which we are very grateful,” he said.

“Their support is a big motivator for us because we want to make them proud and happy.”
