Mohamed Salah hat-trick inspires Trabzonspor to 4-0 win over Galatasaray

Mohamed Salah scored three times and created another goal as Trabzonspor ended Galatasaray’s unbeaten start to the Turkish Super Lig with a 4-0 home victory on Saturday.

The result gave defending champions Galatasaray their first defeat of the season, although they remain three points clear at the top of the table.

Salah opened the scoring after only four minutes, carrying the ball forward from midfield before keeping his composure to finish.

He then turned provider in the 39th minute, supplying Noah Saviolo, who scored from inside the penalty area to double Trabzonspor’s advantage.

Trabzonspor added a third just five minutes later. Salah finished clinically after being set up by Franculino Dju, leaving the side he joined last month three goals ahead at half-time.

The forward completed his hat-trick in the 80th minute, running unchallenged for more than half the length of the pitch before applying a trademark side-foot finish.

The match also saw disciplinary trouble for both teams. Galatasaray manager Okan Buruk was sent to the stands in the 71st minute, while Trabzonspor’s Lesley Ugochukwu was shown a red card in the 87th.

German coach Thomas Reis took charge of Trabzonspor this week following the departure of Fatih Tekke earlier this month.

Trabzonspor are fifth in the Turkish Super Lig with 10 points from six matches.
