Relebohile Mofokeng scores first Europa League goal for Union Saint-Gilloise
South Africa winger Relebohile Mofokeng scored his first UEFA Europa League goal as Union Saint-Gilloise beat Viktoria Plzen 3-0 on Thursday.
The 24-year-old opened the scoring in the 18th minute, controlling a long ball over the top before calmly finishing past the Viktoria Plzen goalkeeper.
Mofokeng was rewarded with another start after scoring in Union’s Belgian Pro League victory last weekend. That goal had taken his league tally to three in five appearances.
His latest effort continued an impressive beginning to life in Belgium following his move from Orlando Pirates, with the winger now having scored four goals in six matches in all competitions for Union.
Mofokeng’s contribution ended in the 63rd minute when he was replaced by Ilan Hurtevent. Union then completed a comfortable 3-0 victory.
The Belgian club will return to action on Sunday, when they face Royal Antwerp in the Belgian Pro League.
