Al Ain’s Rahimi brothers punish Al Nassr with three goals in 72 minutes

Al Nassr endured a difficult night against Al Ain as Moroccan brothers Hussein and Sufian Rahimi scored all three of the Emirati side’s goals in a remarkable display in the AFC Champions League Elite.

Al Ain took control by exposing gaps and defensive mistakes in Al Nassr’s back line, becoming the more dangerous side as the match progressed. Al Nassr’s defence struggled to contain the movement of the Rahimi brothers, who repeatedly found space in and around the penalty area.

Hussein Rahimi opened the scoring in the 25th minute after capitalising on a defensive error. A well-timed run put him in the right position, allowing him to finish into the net and give Al Ain the lead.

The forward struck again in the 63rd minute. Hussein once more made an intelligent movement inside the penalty area before taking advantage of another opening in Al Nassr’s defence to double his own tally and increase his side’s advantage.

Sufian Rahimi then completed the family’s outstanding contribution nine minutes later, scoring Al Ain’s third goal in the 72nd minute. The goal meant Al Nassr had conceded three times, with every strike coming from one of the two Moroccan brothers.

The match therefore became a showcase for the Rahimi family, as Hussein and Sufian shaped the contest through their movement and finishing. Al Ain made the most of the spaces and errors appearing in Al Nassr’s defensive line, leaving the Saudi club needing a strong response if it is to get back into the match.
