Burkina Faso football prize money doubled, with league champions to receive 25m FCFA

Burkina Faso’s football rewards will be doubled from this season, with the Division 1 champions set to receive 25 million FCFA.

The decision was announced at the General Assembly of the Federation Burkinabe de Football (FBF), which also approved increases to the subsidies provided to clubs and the prizes for competitions organised by the federation.

The winners of the Burkina Faso championship previously received 12.5 million FCFA. That figure will now rise to 25 million FCFA.

The changes also apply to women’s football. The champions of the women’s championship will see their prize increase from 3.5 million to 7 million FCFA.

The FBF said the rewards for all its championships would be doubled, while club subsidies would also be increased.

The measures represent a significant rise in the financial rewards available across the competitions run by the federation.
