Ghana face South Korea in Women’s U20 World Cup survival clash

Ghana’s Black Princesses must beat South Korea to keep their Women’s U20 World Cup hopes alive, with both teams naming their starting line-ups for Wednesday’s decisive contest.

The match is expected to play a key role in determining the future of both sides in the competition. Ghana head into the game after losing their opening fixture, while South Korea will be looking to build on the tactical resistance they showed against France.

Ghana head coach Charles Sampson has made two changes to the team that started the first match. Goalkeeper Precious Akanguwie replaces Najat Salam, while Salma Naazo also comes into the starting XI.

Captain Sarah Nyarko will lead the side, with Priscilla Mensah, Ivy Owusu Osei and Alexandra Tay also included as Ghana attempt to overcome their difficult position and revive their hopes of progressing.

Latifa Musah and Esther Asamoah Yiadom are also selected, while captain Sarah Nyarko, Priscilla Mensah, Ivy Owusu Osei and Agnes Yeboah complete the Ghana line-up.

South Korea have also adjusted their starting team for the meeting with Ghana. Maeng Huijin, who came on as a substitute against France, is promoted to the starting XI for this afternoon’s game.

Baek Seoyeong is another player brought into the side from the start. South Korea impressed with the tactical resistance they offered against the French team and will now aim to use their attacking options to put pressure on the Black Princesses.

Victory would allow South Korea to end Ghana’s hopes of continuing their campaign, while the Black Princesses need a positive result to remain in contention.

Chaebeen Kim is named in goal, with Jung Dabin wearing the captain’s armband. Nam Seungeun, Maeng Huijin, Han Minseo, Jin Hyerin, Parc Jiyu and Choi Juhong are also selected.

Baek Seoyeong starts alongside Lee Haeun and Jo Hyeyoung in the South Korean team.
