Abderrazak Hamdallah to miss Al Hilal clash after hamstring injury

Abderrazak Hamdallah will be unavailable for Al Taawoun’s Saudi Roshn League meeting with Al Hilal after suffering a hamstring injury.

Al Taawoun are scheduled to host Al Hilal at their stadium in Buraidah on Saturday, in the seventh round of the Saudi Roshn League. However, Hamdallah is not expected to recover in time to feature in one of the division’s highest-profile fixtures.

The Moroccan striker sustained the injury during Al Taawoun’s goalless draw against Al Fateh on Saturday, in the fifth round of the league campaign. He was subsequently absent from the squad for Tuesday’s unexpected 1-0 defeat by Al Hazem in round six.

According to Saudi newspaper Al Riyadiyah, Hamdallah will be unable to take part against Al Hilal because of the problem. Al Taawoun have also indicated that the forward requires a further seven days of treatment, effectively ruling him out of Saturday’s match.

His absence would deprive Al Taawoun of a player who has already made a significant contribution since joining the club. Hamdallah moved from Al Shabab during the summer transfer window and has played six matches for his new side.

During those appearances, he has scored three goals and provided one assist. His involvement has made him an important attacking option for Al Taawoun, although his latest injury has kept him out of the team’s most recent fixture and is now set to prevent him from facing Al Hilal.

Hamdallah could return in Al Taawoun’s next continental fixture. Al Riyadiyah reports that the striker may be available for the meeting with Oman’s Al Nahdah on 16 September in the AFC Champions League Two.

That return date remains dependent on the progress of his treatment and recovery. For now, Al Taawoun must prepare to face Al Hilal without one of their main attacking players, having already suffered defeat by Al Hazem in the league’s sixth round.

The match in Buraidah will therefore take place with Hamdallah still sidelined after the injury picked up against Al Fateh. His expected absence comes as Al Taawoun look to respond to Tuesday’s result and take on Al Hilal in the seventh round of the Saudi Roshn League.
