Mahmoud Nagy appointed referee for Zamalek’s Egyptian League meeting with Abu Qir Fertilizers

The Egyptian Football Association’s refereeing committee has appointed Mahmoud Nagy to take charge of Zamalek’s match against Abu Qir Fertilizers in the fourth round of the Egyptian League on Tuesday.

The match will begin at 20:00 local time at Cairo Stadium, while Smouha face Ceramica Cleopatra at the same time at Borg El Arab Stadium. Mostafa El-Shehdy has been selected as a video assistant referee for the second fixture as he continues his return from a serious knee injury.

Nagy will be assisted by Mohamed Magdy Soliman and Mohamed Mahmoud Lotfy, with Hassan Mahmoud serving as the fourth official. The video assistant referee team will consist of Amr El-Shennawy and Waleed Nagy.

This will be Nagy’s third Egyptian League appointment of the season. He previously refereed the meeting between Al Masry and Pyramids FC in the third round, as well as Al Ahly’s match against Eastern Company Enppi in the opening round.

Nagy also officiated five Zamalek matches during the previous campaign. The club won two of those games and drew the other three.

Among those fixtures was Zamalek’s 1-0 victory over Pyramids FC in the 20th round. He also refereed their 3-0 win against Al Masry in the sixth round.

His other Zamalek appointments last season included the 1-1 draw with National Bank of Egypt in the 12th round and a goalless draw against Enppi in the fourth round of the championship group.

Nagy also took charge of Zamalek’s 3-3 draw with Ismaily Electricity in the Capital Cup.

Zamalek currently sit third in the Egyptian League table with seven points. Abu Qir Fertilizers are 13th with three points.

For the match between Smouha and Ceramica Cleopatra, Mohamed El-Atbani has been appointed referee. He will be assisted by Youssef El-Basaty and Ahmed Bakr, while Ahmed Shahoud will act as the fourth official.

El-Shehdy will serve as the video assistant referee, supported by Mohamed Ezazy as the assistant video referee. His appointment marks another step in El-Shehdy’s return to officiating after he previously worked as a VAR for Zamalek’s match against Petrojet.

El-Shehdy suffered a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his knee during Modern Sport’s Egyptian League match against El Gouna in April.

Ceramica Cleopatra are fourth in the standings with six points, while Smouha are 18th with one point from their opening matches.
