Mali Lassine Sinayoko makes Ligue 1 history as Paris FC stun Marseille at Velodrome

Lassine Sinayoko etched his name into Paris FC history with a sensational hat-trick as the newly promoted side secured a dramatic 3-2 victory over Marseille at the Stade Velodrome.

The Mali international needed just 25 seconds to break the deadlock, sliding onto Luca Koleosho’s inviting cross to silence the home crowd and register the fastest Ligue 1 goal in more than two years.

Paris FC’s advantage, however, lasted only six minutes. Amine Gouiri punished an Adama Camara mistake before calmly finding the bottom corner from close range to bring Marseille level.

The hosts threatened to take control when Angel Gomes forced Kevin Trapp into a save from distance, but Paris FC regained the lead in the 19th minute.

Sinayoko strikes again

Pablo Pagis delivered a dangerous cross into the area, and Sinayoko rose highest to meet it. His powerful header took a deflection before beating Jeffrey de Lange, putting the visitors back in front.

Marseille immediately searched for another response. Timothy Weah saw his effort saved, while Igor Paixao came agonisingly close when his dipping free-kick clipped the crossbar.

Paris FC could have extended their advantage before the interval when Sinayoko escaped the Marseille defence, only for de Lange to deny him.

The frantic contest continued after the restart, with Ilan Kebbal unable to beat the goalkeeper and Koleosho seeing a backheel roll narrowly wide.

Those missed opportunities would prove costly.

Gouiri completes Marseille comeback

Marseille drew level again when Gouiri seized on a loose ball inside the six-yard box and produced a clinical angled volley into the far corner.

The Algerian forward was now chasing a fourth career hat-trick, while Marseille looked increasingly likely to complete the turnaround.

Gomes then squandered a golden opportunity after being played through on goal, losing control as he attempted to finish.

Gouiri remained a constant threat and forced a sprawling save from Trapp after being picked out by Keyliane Abdallah. At the other end, Pierre Lees-Melou narrowly missed with a low effort from 25 yards.

VAR drama hands Sinayoko the winner

Just when a draw appeared the most likely outcome, late drama handed Paris FC a historic victory.

Moses Simon’s shot struck the arm of CJ Egan-Riley inside the box, prompting a VAR review before the referee awarded Paris FC a penalty.

Sinayoko took responsibility and showed composure under pressure, sending de Lange the wrong way to complete his first professional hat-trick.

The victory marked Paris FC’s first-ever triumph at the Stade Velodrome and gave them three points from a remarkable encounter.

For Marseille, the defeat was their second of the campaign. Paris FC, meanwhile, maintained their unbeaten start after three matches under Liam Rosenior.
