Former Orlando Pirates star Deano van Rooyen joins Mamelodi Sundowns

Mamelodi Sundowns have bolstered their defense with the acquisition of former Orlando Pirates star Deano van Rooyen.

Van Rooyen joins the Brazilians after previously turning out for Stellenbosch FC and Orlando Pirates, where he established himself as a reliable option at right-back.

The move is also seen as a potential solution to Sundowns’ current concerns at the position following the injury to Khuliso Mudau.

Mudau has been an important figure for Sundowns in recent seasons, particularly with his consistency and attacking contribution from the right side of defence. His absence has therefore created a vacancy that the club will be keen to address.

Van Rooyen’s arrival could provide head coach Miguel Cardoso with an experienced alternative while Mudau continues his recovery.
