Zamalek set for Abu Qir Fertilizers clash after AS Port victory

Zamalek will return to Egyptian Premier League action when they face Abu Qir Fertilizers on Tuesday, 8 September, with the match scheduled to take place at Cairo Stadium and broadcast on On Sport.

The game comes after Zamalek began their African campaign with a 2-1 victory over AS Port of Djibouti in the first leg of the preliminary round of the CAF Champions League.

Zamalek’s next domestic fixture is therefore set against Abu Qir Fertilizers, as the club switches its focus back to the Egyptian Premier League following its continental outing. The match will kick off at 20:00 and Cairo Stadium will host the meeting.

On Sport will provide live coverage of the game. No other broadcaster is named for the fixture.

The victory over AS Port was Zamalek’s first match in the CAF Champions League since their most recent appearance in the competition, against Sudanese side Al-Merrikh in the 2023 edition.

Zamalek took a narrow advantage from the first meeting with AS Port after winning 2-1. Their decisive tie remains unfinished, however, with the second leg due to be played on 12 September.

The overall winner of the Zamalek and AS Port contest will progress to face the winner of the tie between Congolese side Eagles and the Rwandan Army in the round of 32.

For now, Zamalek’s immediate priority is the domestic fixture against Abu Qir Fertilizers. The match provides the club with its next competitive assignment after the opening leg of its Champions League campaign, while the return against AS Port remains scheduled for later in the month.

The 8 September encounter will be played at Cairo Stadium, with kick-off set for 20:00. Supporters following Zamalek’s domestic campaign will be able to watch the match on On Sport.

Zamalek’s recent 2-1 result over AS Port was their first Champions League appearance since the meeting with Al-Merrikh in 2023. Their continental schedule will continue with the second leg on 12 September, after which the successful side will move into the next stage and meet either Eagles or the Rwandan Army.

Until then, the Egyptian Premier League meeting with Abu Qir Fertilizers represents Zamalek’s next fixture. The match is scheduled for Tuesday, 8 September, at Cairo Stadium and will be shown on On Sport.
