Kruger United close in on former Orlando Pirates midfielder Thuso Moleleki

Kruger United manager Elasto Kapowezha says the club is following the final steps required to complete the signing of former Orlando Pirates midfielder Thuso Moleleki.

Moleleki joined the Mpumalanga-based side in training last week after changing his plans during the current transfer window. The 26-year-old had been expected to sign for Lerumo Lions, but instead made a late decision to pursue an opportunity with Kruger United, also known as the Village Boys.

Kapowezha indicated that Moleleki is likely to become a Kruger player once the outstanding administrative work has been completed.

“I can confirm the presence of Thuso in our team,” confirmed Kapowezha, speaking toKickOff.

“When you sign a player, there is a process to follow.

“Once that is sorted out, the club will be in process to make a statement.

“For now, he is still training with the team,” he went on.

Moleleki is currently a free agent after Orlando Pirates released him at the end of last season. His proposed move to Kruger United would give him the opportunity to continue his career with the Mpumalanga club, although the transfer has not yet been formally announced.

Kapowezha’s comments suggest that the player’s presence at the club is not simply for assessment, but that Kruger United are working towards completing an agreement. The manager stopped short of confirming that the deal had been finalised, stressing that the necessary process must be completed before the club makes an official statement.

The update comes as Kruger United prepare to face Orlando Pirates in the Betway Premiership. The match is scheduled to take place at Mbombela Stadium tonight, with kick-off set for 19:30.

The fixture will bring Moleleki’s former club to the stadium while his future remains under discussion. He was released by Orlando Pirates at the end of the previous season and subsequently became available to negotiate with other clubs.

Kruger United are also due to face a high-profile test against the Soweto club, with the Betway Premiership meeting providing the immediate focus for Kapowezha’s team. Any announcement regarding Moleleki is expected only after the club has completed the relevant signing procedure.

For now, the midfielder remains part of Kruger United’s training group, while the Village Boys work towards clarifying his status. The club’s position is that an official confirmation will follow once all outstanding matters have been resolved.
