Fares Chaibi lined up for Premier League move as summer deadline approaches

Fares Chaibi has reportedly reached an agreement with an unnamed Premier League club, raising the possibility that the Eintracht Frankfurt midfielder could follow Algeria team-mate Jaouen Hadjam to England before the close of the summer transfer window.

The 23-year-old is said to be considering a move away from Eintracht Frankfurt, according to German newspaper BILD. Chaibi has been with the Bundesliga club for three years after joining from Toulouse, and could now begin a new chapter in the Premier League.

The identity of the English club has not been disclosed. However, Crystal Palace and Newcastle are both possible destinations after being linked with the Algeria international earlier in the summer.

Chaibi’s reported agreement comes only a week after Hadjam completed his transfer from Young Boys to Brighton for a fee of 13 million euros. Hadjam’s move made him the latest Algeria international to arrive in the Premier League, and Chaibi could now become the second player from the country to make the switch during the final stages of the window.

The midfielder remains under contract at Eintracht Frankfurt until 2028, but Saturday’s 3-3 draw with Union Berlin may have been his final appearance for the club. Born in Lyon, Chaibi played the full match as Eintracht Frankfurt began their German league campaign.

That was his second appearance in two matches in all competitions. Eight days earlier, he had come off the bench and scored in a 11-0 victory over SC St. Tonis in the cup on 21 August.

Chaibi made 38 appearances for Eintracht Frankfurt last season, scoring three goals and providing 10 assists. His form and regular involvement have made him an important member of the squad, although his long-term future now appears uncertain with interest from England gathering pace.

He has won 34 caps for Algeria and scored three international goals. A move to the Premier League would take him into a third major football environment after developing in France and spending the past three years in Germany.

For now, the next step depends on whether the unnamed Premier League club can complete a deal with Eintracht Frankfurt before the transfer window closes. Crystal Palace and Newcastle remain the two clubs previously associated with the player, but no destination has been confirmed.

Chaibi began his senior career with Toulouse before moving to Eintracht Frankfurt, where he has continued to establish himself at club and international level. If the reported agreement leads to a completed transfer, he will join Hadjam in England and add another Algeria international to the Premier League’s ranks.
