Keagan Dolly joins Hope FC after leaving Cape Town City

Former Kaizer Chiefs and Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder Keagan Dolly has joined Motsepe Foundation Championship newcomers Hope FC, confirming his next move after leaving Cape Town City.

The 33-year-old had been without a club since Cape Town City failed to regain their place in the Betway Premiership through the promotional playoffs. Dolly has now become the latest addition to Hope FC’s project after being unveiled by the club on Monday.

“Keagan Dolly is red,” the club stated.

“A player who needs little introduction.

“Keagan Dolly brings years of experience at the highest level, both locally and abroad, along with the quality and ability we all know he possesses.

“We’re excited to welcome Keagan and his family to the Immortals and to provide him with the platform to enjoy his football, express himself and be the best version of the player we know he can be.

“Welcome to the Immortals, Keagan.”

Dolly joins Hope FC after a spell with Cape Town City, who had signed him following his time at TS Galaxy. The Rockets had brought the midfielder to the club after his departure from Kaizer Chiefs in July 2024.

His move to Hope FC was previously reported by iDiski Times before the Motsepe Foundation Championship side formally announced the signing.

The deal gives Dolly a new club after a period without football following Cape Town City’s unsuccessful attempt to return to the Betway Premiership. The midfielder had moved to the Citizens after spending the previous season with TS Galaxy, who had secured his services after his exit from Kaizer Chiefs.

Dolly’s career has included spells with both Kaizer Chiefs and Mamelodi Sundowns, as well as experience outside South Africa. Hope FC highlighted that background in welcoming him to the club, describing him as a player with experience at the highest level both domestically and abroad.

The announcement also marked Dolly as the latest player to join the Hope FC project. The club referred to its players as the “Immortals” in its message welcoming the midfielder and his family.

Hope FC are newcomers to the Motsepe Foundation Championship, and Dolly’s arrival adds an experienced figure to their squad. The club said it wanted to give him the opportunity to enjoy his football, express himself and reach the level it believes he is capable of producing.

Dolly left Kaizer Chiefs in July 2024 before joining TS Galaxy. He subsequently moved to Cape Town City, but became a free agent after the club did not return to the Betway Premiership through the promotional playoffs.

He will now continue his career with Hope FC, where the club has formally confirmed his arrival as part of its developing project.
