Ramatlaohle and Ezemvelo claim narrow Hollywoodbets Super League victories

Ramatlaohle Ladies and Ezemvelo Women’s FC were the only winners in a low-scoring Hollywoodbets Super League weekend, both securing 1-0 victories.

The weekend marked the first round of fixtures in the Super Rise stream since the domestic league resumed two weeks ago following the WAFCON break.

Ramatlaohle recorded their third win of the season by edging provincial rivals First Touch Academy 1-0. Dimakatso Sehlabo scored the decisive goal, lifting the Limpopo side to fourth place in the standings on 10 points.

The defeat left First Touch Academy second from bottom, with six points from six matches.

Ezemvelo Women’s FC also secured a narrow victory, defeating City Lads 1-0. Ayanda Makhaza scored the only goal as the KwaZulu-Natal side handed City Lads their sixth league defeat of the season.

Ezemvelo are third from bottom in the stream with six points, while City Lads remain at the foot of the table without a point or a goal. They also have the division’s poorest defensive record, having conceded 14 goals.

There were no goals in either of the two remaining matches.

JVW were held to a goalless draw by the University of Johannesburg, although the result did not prevent the Blue Diamonds from staying top of the Super Rise standings. JVW have 14 points from six games, while the Orange Army remain close behind on 11 points from the same number of matches.

Tshwane University of Technology and the University of Fort Hare also shared the points after a 0-0 draw.

The result left the University of Fort Hare, who hosted the festival, in fifth place with seven points. TUT are third on 11 points, level with the University of Johannesburg, who sit just above them in the standings.

The two victories were the only occasions on which teams found the net across the weekend’s matches, underlining the tight nature of the latest round in the Hollywoodbets Super League.
